    PROGRAM CONTENT

    • Introduction to the boat, its rig, and examination of their technical characteristics.
    • Assessment of the critical aspects of a foiling boat compared with a traditional boat, in terms of maintenance and handling both ashore and afloat.
    • Principles of foil operation.
    • Overview of the different types of foiling boats.
    • Basic notions on the functioning of the wand, where present on the boat.
    • Apparent wind, how its effect changes on fast boats and how to manage it.
    • Launching, assessment of the safety of the sailing area depending on seabed depth and the free space available to leeward.
    • First tacks, stability and take-off.
    • Trim control and crew weight distribution on board.
    • Displacement sailing and righting moment.

    PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS

    • Athletes born between 2003 and 2014 are eligible.
    • Minimum physical characteristics (for Waszp and Skeeta), minimum height 155–160 cm and minimum weight 50 kg.
    • Demonstrated ability to handle a dinghy, supported by a competitive sailing résumé.
    • Athletes who regularly compete in a federally recognized sailing discipline.
    • Third-party liability insurance (RC insurance).
    • FIV membership for the current year.

    PROGRAM CONTENT

    • Rig and setup of the boats.
    • Adjustment of the lift of the main foil and of the rudder foil.
    • Trim on different points of sail, crew weight distribution, sail adjustment and foil adjustment.
    • Further explanation of the functioning of the wand, where present on the boat.
    • Advanced concepts on apparent wind, how its effect changes on fast boats and how to manage it.
    • Maneuvers, tack and gybe.
    • Introduction to racing, formats and rules.
    • Exercises with marks and practice races.

    PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS

    • Athletes born between 2003 and 2014 are eligible.
    • Minimum physical characteristics (for Waszp and Skeeta), minimum height 155–160 cm and minimum weight 50 kg.
    • Demonstrated ability to handle a dinghy, supported by a competitive sailing résumé.
    • Athletes who regularly compete in a federally recognized sailing discipline.
