Paul is a naval architect and designer,  who is one of the world's most experienced foiling boat designers, having worked on surf foiling, Moth class, skiff, America's Cup yacht and powerboat projects. He has over three decades of experience in structural analysis, carbon fibre structures and foiling technology. He is a pioneer in the use of computer-assisted manufacturing methods for building high performance marine craft. A graduate in naval architecture and naval engineering with high honours from UC Berkeley, he was chief design engineer for Oracle Team USA in the 35th America’s Cup and provided structural design and engineering for their 31st through 34th America's Cup campaigns. He won 2 America’s Cup, both for Oracle Team USA (2010, 2013). For Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Paul is providing general guidance on a wide variety of projects. His hobbies are: motorcycling and mushroom hunting. The one in 2024 will be his sixth America's Cup and his first with Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli.
