Jimmy Spithill was the youngest skipper in America’s Cup history, having helmed Young Australia in the 1999 Louis Vuitton Cup at the age of 20. He has won the America’s Cup twice in a row (2010 and 2013) and holds, together with Dennis Conner, the record for most wins in an America's Cup match (17). He is a multiple World and National Champion in both Fleet and Match Races and has won the Sydney to Hobart several times (current record holder on Comanche). World Sailor and Australian of the Year, he is famous for leading the greatest comeback in the history of the sport, going from 8-1 down to a 9-8 victory during the AC34 in 2013. Jimmy has helmed an AC boat in every edition since 1999, setting a further record (22 consecutive years). He has helmed consecutively in the last 4 America's Cup finals: Oracle 2010, 2013, 2017, Luna Rossa 2021. The 2024 edition will be his eighth consecutive Cup, the third with Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli. If he were not a professional sailor, he would still be part of a sports team.
