Born in Buenos Aires (ARG) Mariano took up sailing as a child, following in the footsteps of his father who sailed on Flying Dutchman and Star boats. He started his career on Optimists, to then move on to Lasers. Later on, he started sailing in Finn and the Star class, in which he participated in the 2000 Olympics. In 2005 he moved to Valencia to help build the America's Cup hulls for the Spanish Desafio team for the 2007 edition. This edition of Barcelona 2024 is his sixth America's Cup campaign and his second with Luna Rossa. His hobbies are cycling, fishing and photography.
