OCEAN SPOTLIGHT | What does marine litter mean?
Marine litter is the solid, long-lasting waste thrown into the sea that poisons an entire ecosystem: online the third episode of the column dedicated to protecting the oceans
The third episode of the section Ocean Spotlight starring Sara Paesani, PR and communications manager for the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Team.
What is meant by marine litters?
Let’s start with the concept that the ocean today has become a huge garbage dump, perhaps the largest of all, because people probably think that its immensity can absorb and hide whatever they throw away.
Marine litter are solid and long lasting man made waste that is dumped in the marine environment.
What is the strangest marine litter you have come across in the sea?
Definitely the strangest was a dumpster of the green ones where you throw your rubbish. We saw it while we were sailing and we all hoped it wasn't full of marine litters and luckily it wasn't.
Hopefully its contents didn't end up in the sea anyway.
