OCEAN SPOTLIGHT | Why is the Ocean important for us?
Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team turns the spotlight on to protect the sea. The team will dedicate a new educational section to promote awareness on the most relevant themes tied to the ocean.
Further to our goal for collection and removal of marine litter (with Ogyre 2,000 kg will be recovered in 3 years), an essential part of our sustainability program is to create awareness. We need to ensure that more and more people understand how important the role of the ocean is in our daily life and why our individual support is crucial to protect the sea and, therefore, the future of our planet.
To honour this commitment, we have created "Ocean Spotlight": a new educational section in our sustainability program to be released in 7 short episodes in which the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team members will describe interesting facts about the ocean and express their personal points of view on the issues addressed.
Today we are inaugurating Ocean Spotlight with Design team member Clelia Sessa, who will talk to us about the role of the ocean in our life and what it means to her.
We don’t often think about it, but over 70% of our planet is water-covered and 95% of this is salt water.
Throughout the past 50 years the ocean has absorbed over 90% of the heat caused by the greenhouse gas, generated by human activities, thus helping the planet's cooling process. If it weren't for the ocean, the temperature of the air we breathe today would be much higher! There are countless reasons for which the ocean is so special and, above all, essential for our survival.
