Inauguration of the Passeggiata Luna Rossa at Molo Ichnusa quay
Twenty-two panels, installed along the shaded walkway alongside the team’s base, recount the history of the America’s Cup and the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Team.

Cagliari, 11th September - An installation of photographic panels along the Passeggiata Luna Rossa was inaugurated today at Cagliari’s Molo Ichnusa quay, in the presence of Massimo Deiana, President of the Sardinia Port System Authority. The exhibition consists of 22 panels, set along the 110-meter shaded walkway alongside the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team’s base, leading to the former Cruise Terminal building.
The images recount the history of the America’s Cup, the oldest trophy in the sporting world, as well as the team’s six participations, with a special focus on the latest campaign.
It features an in-depth look at the AC75, the foiling monohull developed to take part in the PRADA Cup races and the 36th edition of the America’s Cup presented by PRADA, being held from January to March 2021 in Auckland (NZ).
The installation, promoted and created by Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli as a token of gratitude for the city of Cagliari, which has hosted the team for more than three years, will also remain in place following the relocation of the operational base to Auckland.
Massimo Deiana, President of the Sardinia Port System Authority:
““This installation created by the team is an unexpected gift and bears witnesses to the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team’s time here in Cagliari. We hope this will not just be a temporary situation, but a chapter in a story which we would like to see continue, and which will once again find its ideal location in Cagliari.”
Max Sirena, Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Skipper and Team Director
““This is in recognition of the City of Cagliari, of the whole of Sardinia, and of the Port Authority who allowed us to use this space. We have been here since September 2017 and Cagliari, over and above originally being a purely technical and sporting choice, has become our home. The city has proved to be a perfect place to live and work. At the end of the walkway we have left some blank panels, with the hope of filling them with a great story.
The most challenging and crucial part awaits us now: trying to make a dream come true for many of us, for Luna Rossa, for our sponsors and supporters, and for all the fans of this sport. We’re going to Auckland highly motivated. For us this is a ‘goodbye for now’ to Cagliari!”
