The adventure begins
In 2027, Luna Rossa celebrates 30 years of history, during which it has launched seven challenges for the America’s Cup, becoming the longest-standing challenger of all time. The team was founded in Milan on a February evening in 1997, following a meeting between entrepreneur Patrizio Bertelli and Argentine yacht designer Germán Frers, who decided to compete in the 30th America’s Cup in Auckland in 2000. Luna Rossa has won the Challenger Selection Series twice – the Louis Vuitton Cup in 2000 and the PRADA Cup in 2021 – and has reached the finals five times. Since its debut, the team has played a leading role in all major evolutions of yacht design, moving from the IACC Class to multihulls and, most recently, to the current foiling AC75 monohulls, with which it will compete in the 38th America’s Cup in Naples, marking its seventh campaign.
